WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING 29 OCTOBER 1999:
STANFORD HIGHLIGHT
The first Mission Operations Center Simulation was successfully completed
using ITF engineering units commanded from and sending data to the MOC. The
simulation included power on, loading and running the MSS, loading formats
and SPCs, formatting switches, fairing separation, and memory dumps. The
team members involved in this work include Karl Allmendinger, Mark
Anderson, Emily Biss, Jim Burns, Ric Campo, Marvin Candee, Alan Duval, Bill
Given, Flora Helin, Sheila Johnson, Tom Langenstein, Frank Mendoza, Dave
Meriwether, Phill Ritmuller, Dorrene Ross, Marcie Smith, Kate Trevisan, and
Jeff Wade.
The Phase A testing of the payload this past week focused on a set of
thermal measurements in which gas was inserted into the probe.
Measurements of the resulting temperatures are helping to locate the source
of the observed thermal anomalies. Phase A testing is now complete and
Phase B work is underway to tilt the dewar and probe. The team members
involved in this work include Jim Maddocks, Dave Murray, Mike Taber, and
Tom Welsh.
