Gravity Probe B

Testing Einstein's Universe

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING 6 DECEMBER 2002:

SPACE VEHICLE IN THERMAL VACUUM TEST
The GP-B space vehicle is in thermal vacuum test. Approximately 75% of the thermal vacuum test objectives have been successfully completed to date. The SRE, ECU, GSS, and GMA have all been successfully tested. The vehicle was cycled cold, then hot, and is now in the second cold cycle. A GSE issue has limited the cold cycle testing. 4 possible work-arounds to this GSE issue are in-work. A number of electronics test anomalies have been observed during the functional testing of the vehicle. Investigations are in-work for these anomalies.
