Gravity Probe B

Testing Einstein's Universe

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING 16 NOVEMBER 2001:

SIM 3 SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
MOC SIM 3 was successfully completed. This sim was the first full scale, multi-day simulation of the mission timeline. A team of more than 50 persons participated in this task. The simulation ran very smoothly. A number of minor anomalies were found during operations. The team handled these anomalies as true mission events/issues and resolved them in real time. Mission planning, data processing, and orbit determination functions were all used as they will be during the actual mission. The processes of planning (meetings), control (signoff of templates), and other procedural issues were exercised by this simulation.
