WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING 14 November 1997:
STANFORD HIGHLIGHT
The integrated system testing team, under the direction of
Dr. Mike Taber,
has successfully completed all science
instrument and probe cryogenic
testing in GTU-2. This
marks the completion of testing for the last
integrated
system verification prior to the science instrument acceptance
testing. Removal of the Probe B from the flight dewar is scheduled
to begin
in the next week.
SPACE
VEHICLE HIGHLIGHT
Engineering units of the eddy current damper for the solar
array
deployment mechanism and the paraffin pin puller for
the Attitude
Reference Platform (ARP) release mechanism are
in house. Component
environmental tests are being performed
on the units before assembly
into their respective engineering
unit mechanisms.
