WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING 3 July 1998:
STANFORD HIGHLIGHT
The system integration team lead by Dr. Michael Taber has succesfully
completed the insertion of flight Probe C into the flight dewar.
This
operation is first step in the fitcheck of Probe C in the SMD.
The next
stage of this operation will verify operation of the
Belleville Preload
System (BPS). After completion the science
instrument will be integrated
into the probe, and final probe
to dewar integration will take place.
SPACE VEHICLE HIGHLIGHT
The Relativity Mission Thruster Isolation Valve (TIV) qualification unit
has successfully completed acceptance-level thermal vacuum testing, a
well as ambient functional, random vibration, burst, leak and life
testing. The unit is scheduled to complete pyro-shock testing and begin
qualification-level thermal vacuum testing by the end of July.
