Gravity Probe B

Testing Einstein's Universe

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING 22 JUNE 2001:

FLIGHT ELECTRONICS IN-TEST ON PAYLOAD
The flight SRE, TRE, and ECU are in-test on the GP-B payload. The setup and white noise of each SQUID meets specification. The low frequency noise of 3 of 4 of the SQUIDs have been successfully verified. Low frequency noise measurements on the fourth SQUID are in-work. The linearity of 2 of the SQUIDs have been successfully tested. An inital checkout of the TRE has also been performed. The ECU has successfully been used to measure temperatures on the payload using the flight GRTs and SDs. Some of the flight heaters have been tested. All heater tests to date have been successful. The plan is to continue the testing of the SRE and ECU. An EMC test using the flight GSS is scheduled for next week.
