WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING 22 January 1999:
Dr. John Goebel has completed the cryotest of a flight DPA for channel A. Preliminary analysis of the data appear acceptable. John has also begun testing a flight DPA for channel B. Preliminary analysis of the data for this channel look encouraging. These two DPAs (assuming they are found to be acceptable) comprise a single set of DPAs for the flight instrument. Once we are satisfied with these two DPAs we will be in a position to install them on the telescope and begin the bonding of the telescope to the quartz block.
The final inspection of the Relativity Mission SPRU (Standard Power Regulation Unit) was performed at Engineered Magnetics in Rancho Dominguez, California on Thursday, January 7. Once the SPRU mechanical assembly is complete, a random vibration test and thermal vacuum test will be performed.
