WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING 12 December 1997:
STANFORD
HIGHLIGHT
The gyroscope development and system engineering groups
have successfully
completed the Test Readiness Review
for the gyroscope manufacturing
verification and
commissioning processes. Gyroscope commissioning,
consisting of room temperature and low temperature
testing, are in progress.
SPACE VEHICLE HIGHLIGHT
Spectrum Astro Inc. engineers (from Gilbert, Arizona), who
are designing
and fabricating the Attitude Control Electronics
(ACE) box for the
Relativity Mission Space Vehicle, tested the
Helium Thruster flight
equivalent control electronics printed
circuit board with the helium
thruster in building 205 in Palo
Alto. The testing was successfully run
with the thruster in
flight-like thermal vacuum conditions. The testing
ran
smoothly with excellent correlation between predicted and
actual
behavior. This testing allows the flight thruster
control electronics
to be built with high confidence of
success.
