Gravity Probe B

Testing Einstein's Universe

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING 17 AUGUST 2001:

PAYLOAD TEST COMPLETE
The team has completed all payload-level testing. Although there are a few open issues to resolve, the payload was shown to be fully functional and meets requirements for a successful science mission. A team from Marshall Space Flight Center arrived at Stanford earlier this week, and has been actively working with Stanford and Lockheed personnel to review Payload documentation and performance. This focused cooperative effort will help to streamline the Payload acceptance process. The payload has been returned to the vertical orientation, and preparations are underway to ship it to Lockheed the weekend of August 25th for the next stage of the integration process.
