Gravity Probe B

Testing Einstein's Universe

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING 27 JULY 2001:

TESTS PERFORMED ON FLIGHT GYROSCOPES #1 & #2
The payload test team has performed testing on flight gyroscopes #1 and #2. Gyroscope #2 performed flawlessly including the leviation, cavity exploration, pendulation, and spin test. Gyroscope #1 was also successfully tested for leviation, cavity exploration, and pendulation. A test anomaly which occurred during the spin test is under investigation. Our current understanding is that this gyroscope meets all on-orbit requirements.
