Gravity Probe B

Testing Einstein's Universe

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING 23 MAY 2003:

THERMAL VACUUM TEST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
The test team successfully completed a critical NASA milestone, the Space Vehicle Thermal Vacuum Test. This is the last major vehicle test prior to shipment to VAFB. The reworked PDU and ACE worked perfectly. The functional, 72 hr, and other software based tests were all successful. The cryogenics team successfully collected helium boil off gas, thus allowing a correlation to be made to the on-orbit heat rate. The measurements confirm the on-orbit lifetime requirement. Congratulations to the entire team for a job well done.
